Rohith S. Katbamna

STORYTELLER

At 17, Rohith's first project aired on BBC TWO. This was followed by 2 film awards presented to him by Oscar-winning producer - David Puttnam. Rohith then went on to study TV Production at Bournemouth University and Cinematography at Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada) before earning a Distinction for his Master’s Degree in TV Journalism from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Outside of the news and creative industries, his ventures saw an 11-year competitive journey in Taekwon-Do from the age of 7, culminating with National and European Championship titles as well as representing Team GB at the World Championships in Argentina, where he competed for the World Junior Featherweight title. He also carried his focus and passion into volunteer work with at-risk youth through intervention and reparation schemes over several years.

Rohith worked extensively on acclaimed productions for Channel 4, BBC and IFC. His work across Cameroon as a photojournalist was published in Finland's largest newspaper - Helsingin Sanomat. His hard-hitting documentary, Hooking in JoBurg, largely shot on location in Hillbrow, South Africa, awarded him recognition at festivals, including the One World Media Awards. Rohith’s drama series, PREMature also had the distinction of being the largest acquisition and first fiction-based content for Together TV; a TV miniseries initially funded through Kickstarter, raising over £35,000 from the public. The series earned him a BAFTA Breakthrough nomination.

Rohith's more recent work saw him evolve with his debut novel, Down and Rising. A challenging work with experimental structuring and an immersive reader experience. What was dubbed as a hybrid novel, soon developed an international readership.

Following on from his author debut, Rohith's second novel, Gulab was published. A meditative urban noir telling the story of a stranger, who arrives from across the world, towing a powerful influence while being brought to a reckoning.

The audio-drama for Gulab is currently in production.
